Another week of SEC competition in the books with some shakeups in the rankings. I really enjoy how the conference decided to schedule teams this year and it gives plenty of chances for new leotards to talk about. (All photos c/o the respective schools' Athletic Department)
1. Arkansas (L, 196.625-197.225 vs LSU)
White HOT from the Razorbacks this week. These "Chandelier" leos have such beautiful beading and a unique back. Breathtaking in Week 2 from HC Jordyn Weiber and I really hope to see more of this.
2. Georgia (L, 196.075-197.250 at Florida)
More love for red this week with these simple but classic red leotards from Georgia. The chest stoning is so detailed and so pretty, effectively making a statement with a simple design. 3/4 sleeves are basically the norm now, but they never fail to look so flattering on all gymnasts.
3. Kentucky (W, 196.225-194.575 vs Auburn)
A huge leap from last week's leotards, these incorporated velvet in black and blue without going over the top. The single UK logo was just the right size and there were plenty of stones from head to toe.
4. Florida (W, 197.250-196.075 vs Georgia)
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Another week of black and blue for the Gators, this time with a high neck and swoop-y details. I really liked the stones in three different colors that reflected differently in any light.
5. LSU (W, 197.225-196.625 at Arkansas)
This is old reliable for LSU. The gold chest and purple mesh sleeves are classic, as is the way in Baton Rouge. I don't love the cut of the design, but the bedazzled "LSU" in the back panel is such a good detail.
6. Alabama (W, 195.775-195.750 at Missouri)
I'm not 100% sure what these were from Alabama. The front had a quatrefoil-esque design and the back was mostly open with one strap. They absolutely nailed the crimson color rather than a true Arkansas or Georgia red, which I think makes them special.
7. Missouri (L, 195.750-195.775 vs Alabama)
An improvement from last week, using all black to highlight Mizzou's tiger logo. The bedazzled MIZZOU was one of my turn-offs last week, but the giant logo along the side was much better. These were cut nice and I really liked the tiger stripes on the sleeve.
8. Auburn (L, 194.575-196.225 at Kentucky)
Last week I said I hoped to see more navy from Auburn, and this week we got the total opposite. These "Knight in Shining Armour" leotards washed out every gymnast on the team with grey and orange. The abstract designs were really angular and just not flattering.
